The Canoe/Kayak Trip for Healthy Hearts will take place in the Raystown Branch of the Juniata River as it flows north from Everett towards Hopewell, PA. (May 22, 2010).  This branch eventually feeds Raystown Lake in Huntingdon. The river also parallels Route 26 in Bedford, County, and that route will be used primarily for taking participants to the starting point of the trip and used to take vehicles and trailers to the finishing point.

Coming from the North or Northwest PA, take Route 22 East to Hollidaysburg, and look for Route 36 South to Roaring Spring, PA.  From there, continue south again, and then 3-4 miles south of Loysburg, take Route 26 South toward Everett.

Coming from the North or Northeast PA, take Route 22 West to Huntingdon.  From there, take Route 26 South toward Everett.

Two miles north of Everett (or 6 miles south of the junction of 36 and 26), in the little town of Tatesville, look for the Brite Spot Restaurant on your left as you are heading south.  (A good landmark to look for is the Community Grace Brethren Church on your left. - The "Brite Spot" is just ahead.) Turn left on that road, just before the restaurant.  Travel east and continue going straight through the next intersections.  You will go through a "right turn, keep moving" at Plank Road, and you will pass both Bunker Hill Road on your right and Brallier Station Road on your left.  You will travel about 2 miles from the Brite Spot. This will bring you over the Joe Ritchey Bridge where the float will begin.  Ask any local residents for directions to that bridge. It is easy to locate.

Coming from the West or Southwest, take either the PA Turnpike East or Route 30 East to Everett. From there, take Route 26 North toward Huntingdon.

Coming from the East or Southeast, take either the PA Turnpike or Route 30 West to Everett. From there, take Route 26 North toward Huntingdon.

Two miles north of Everett, in the little town of Tatesville, look for the Brite Spot Restaurant on your right as you are heading north.  Turn right on that road, just after the restaurant.

From the West, Everett is about an hour and a half or an hour and forty-five minutes from Pittsburgh.
From the East, Everett is approximately the same distance from Harrisburg.

Awaiting vehicles will be parked about 20 minutes (drive) north of the starting point, in the area just south of Hopewell, PA.  Locals know this area as the Old Cooper's Saw Mill area.  A bus will be provided to take participants from the finish area back to the starting area. That bus will leave Cooper's Saw Mill at 9:30 AM.

As soon as you have registered please have one or more members of your party stay at the start with the boat(s), and ask one driver per auto to move your vehicle to the finish.  Driving directions will be provided at the registration tables. A bus will bring the drivers back to the start.
